LG VX 8000

I upgraded my phone today. That is, I ordered a new phone. My Samsung A310 (SCH-310) was getting old and since it’s been nearly two years, I qualified for the New Every Two $100 credit (which requires a new two-year contract). I spent lunch time looking over the available phones on Verizon’s website and decided to go with the LG VX 8000. Here are a couple reasons I chose this phone:
One, it’s a great cameraphone. After looking at reviews (and sample shots) for the other cameraphones Verizon offers, I decided that The VX 8000 has the best images. Here’s a link to a test image.
Two, it has really good displays. My current phone has an external display (status information, time and one line for caller id), so I was looking for a phone that had at least that much information. This phone has a nice 262k color 128 x 160 pixel external size that supports picture caller id (cool!). The internal display is also a 262k color TFT display that should show any games or video extremely well.
Basically, it’s a big step up from my current phone. It’s a little taller than my current phone, but only by about a third of an inch. It’s also not really any thicker (well, only .01″). In any case, I hope to get it in the mail later in the week! I’m excited! :)
