One of the things that Apple released the day of the keynote was a new Airport Extreme supporting 802.11n (draft), 802.11a, and most importantly, Apple Disk. What is it, you might ask. Well, it’s an expansion of the functionality first introduced on the Airport Express, the inclusion of a USB 2 port for printer sharing. The Extreme lets you connect either a printer or amazingly, a hard drive, or both if you connect a USB hub first. Apple Disk lets you share an external drive and even allows folders to be set up with different security rights! I’ve pre-ordered one so you can bet I’ll document it’s arrival, setting it up, and my opinions on the device as a whole. Unfortunately, the delivery date is around March 6th or so, so it’ll be awhile before that post gets written, but I’m excited to finally be able to use my Airport Express to share music at the same time I’m connected to the internet!
