Eragon: Underwhelmed
I saw Eragon Sunday afternoon and must say that I was disappointed. The special effects were pretty good, but the story seemed very rushed and the amount of things that were changed or left out did not encourage me to see the next two movies. Farthen Dûr was no where near as vast and grand as I saw in my minds eye. Saphira and Eragon were not paraded into town. There was no blessing. Overall there was very little magic. And speaking of magic, there were no twins, and Arya wasn’t even an elf (or wasn’t an elf with traditional elf ears). Lastly, the romance between Arya and Eragon was overemphasized.
Of course, because relatively few people have read the books, it will probably do as well as any fantasy can do, but personally, I’d only give this a six of ten rating. You should have done better, Fox.
