Cool Course

It’s quite pathetic really, I just can’t get it together enough to post regularly! In any case, I wanted to post about what I’ve been up to lately. The biggest thing is I went to Florida the weekend before the Fourth of July! I took Friday off for my birthday and took Monday off, too. I drove down Friday, leaving here about 10 a.m. and getting up to the hotel room in Orlando at a little after 8 p.m. that night. Heather drove up from Palm Bay and got there about 8:45 or so. It was only the second time we’ve seen each other in the roughly nine years we’ve known each other, but everything was comfortable and semi-relaxed, at least after the initial jitters! hehe Anyway, Saturday we drove over to Port Canaveral to watch the shuttle launch. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t good enough and it didn’t launch until the Fourth. Oh well. I would have loved to have seen it live, but hopefully there will be others! The experience was wild, to say the least. Traffic was horrible getting over there and even worse coming back! I saw a couple cruise ships though, including one of the Disney boats, and even a few movie cameras (the film kind!!) that would have filmed the launch. We played putt-putt (yay!) Saturday night when we got back close to the hotel, there was a great place just right down the road. I shot a 51 and Heather shot a 57. :)

Me and Heather

The next day, we decided to go to the Downtown Disney shops. We met a friend of hers for lunch at The Rainforest Cafe, but only after we stopped by the LEGO store! It was awesome! I created three custom mini-figures and bought the Star Wars A-Wing. I could have spent a lot more money than that though. They had the Y-Wing, the Sandcrawler and the new AT-ST, among other things. I loved the LEGO sculptures outside, too. After eating, we walked around some more. I bought a couple antenna toppers and a magnet at a little Disney shop and had a generic “Frappaccino” at the Ghiradeli Soda Fountain and Ice Cream shop. It rained then so we just relaxed a few minutes under the awning as I drank the delicious goodness of my White Chocolate Mocha Frap. Next, we saw Superman Returns! The movie was great and it was good to see Superman back on the big screen! We ended the evening with dinner at Planet Hollywood. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries and a delicious Bananarama smoothy in a souvenier glass. :) Heather probably got tired of me saying how great it was, but it had these banana chips on the top, too! Mmmm… yummy! Monday, I wound up getting on the road around 11 a.m. and was home by around 7:45 p.m. Overall, it was a great weekend and I really enjoyed spending time with Heather!

Besides my weekend, lots of work has been done to the shed. We’ve got about half the siding on now, the window in and have even calculated the number of pieces of siding that I still have to buy. Hopefully within the next two weeks we’ll finish up the siding and I can start painting it. It’s almost done! I can’t wait! :)
