Finding Neverland

neverland.jpg Last night, I hung out with Jason and Jessica. After talking a little while, we decided to go see Finding Neverland. I saw the trailer probably 6 months ago and was impressed, but I hadn’t made it to the theater to see it. I was no less impressed with the full length of the film. It evoked a wide range of emotions, from joy to sadness, and did it with class. It was amazing to watch the story take shape, and I was in awe of the blending of the real world and the imaginary one. The cast was great, and I was even impressed with Johnny Depp (I’m not sure why, he was awesome in Pirates of the Caribbean). I thought it was pretty cool that Dustin Hoffman was cast in this movie after portraying Capt. Hook in Spielberg’s Hook many years ago. Pretty much the only negative about the movie was the local presentation. The movie came out last October, and the film was scratched more or less the entire length of the film. The theater (Carmike Wynnsong 7 in Spartanburg, SC) wouldn’t give us any kind of refund because it had been out so long. They knowingly chose to show it completely disregarding the film’s damage.

In any case, I’ll probably buy this movie when it comes out on DVD. If you’re interested, here’s the link to the trailer ».
