Happy Monday
Ivan blew through Thursday and Friday and was a tad anti-climactic. I was expecting it to last longer and definitely drop more rain than it did. All we got was a lot of heavy wind, which was probably responsible for my power going out around 2 a.m. Friday morning. By the time I got out of the training class I took Friday, the storm had pretty much left the area. All this was probably a blessing though, especially for people in Asheville.
Friday afternoon, I got home from the class a little before 5 and was more ready to do work around the house (organizing, etc.) than I have been in a long time. I guess work takes a lot out of me. In any case, I went through my plastic models and created a master list of them. This will help me when it comes time for e-bay auctions. I have a few armor pieces to do, as well as a couple planes and cars. I don’t know when I’ll work on them, but without the internet at home, I’m bound to have more time to do them. Later that evening, I met Jessica and Jason at the Greek Festival. It was interesting and a little fun, even if there wasn’t much to it. The food was pretty good and the baklava was incredibly rich and tasty! Afterwards we met Taylor, Tamara and Mike at Barnes and Nobel. After hanging out there awhile (and after I bought Brian Jacques’ Redwall), we drove over to Jessica’s house to watch a movie. We ended up just talking and flipping channels until finally turning to the end of the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Saturday was probably the most productive day that I’ve had around the house, or at least it seemed like it. I bought window treatments for the front living room window (white mini-blinds), the spare bedroom (mini-blinds again) and my bathroom (natural Roman shade). With my Mom’s help, we got material for the curtains for the dining room and for a valance in the kitchen. The Roman shade is pretty cool. It’s made out of bamboo fibers and tiny round rods. We will have to cut some of it off so it fits the window, but it looks good in my monkey print bathroom. Once we got home, my Dad came over to help put up the blinds in the living room. I just want to say that blinds from Bali Today, are very hard to get attached to the top of the window. It was thoroughly frustrating and the blinds required the unplanned purchase of longer screws to hold the brackets firmly in place while attaching the blind. We had to hold off on finishing that window because of the screw fiasco. I did put finally put up my curtain rod and curtains though. I felt like I had to or the day would be mostly wasted! The day came to a close by hanging out with Jason, Carrie, Hope and Katie at Jason’s house watching Clemson lose against Texas A&M. Oh, and there was that excruciatingly long time we watched the Miss America Pageant long enough to see that Miss SC did not advance to the top 10. :( Oh well.
Sunday was very relaxing. After church, I read and napped for awhile. Later in the afternoon my Dad came over again, and together we finally got the blinds up. After he left I cut the grass. It actually felt really good and the yard looks pretty good. I’ve got to pull some weeds soon though. After cutting grass I sat on my front porch for a hour or so just reading. I only went inside when the wind brought a chill. I continued to read and finished Redwall before my parents and brother came over (my Mom wanted to see the living room window with blinds and curtains up. The only bad thing all day was a really long sneezing fit that came over me. I had to turn on the air conditioner last night so that the air would be more free of allergens! :(
Anyway, I’m planning on taking a day off this week so I can get more stuff done around the house. There’s still tons of stuff to do!
Oh hot monkey love….I’m going to burn your house down!!!
